The pathway for drenching and severe thunderstorms will once again lie from Nebraska to Arkansas late today into Wednesday.

The stage is set for another round of violent thunderstorms to ignite in and around western Nebraska late this afternoon.

The strongest thunderstorms will be capable of unleashing pounding hail, damaging winds and even a couple of tornadoes.

A more organized cluster of thunderstorms will take shape early tonight across western Nebraska then will dive into Kansas as the night progresses.

The cluster should survive the overnight hours, racing through eastern Kansas into northeastern Oklahoma and Arkansas on Wednesday.

Severe thunderstorms within the cluster are a concern, mainly early tonight and again Wednesday afternoon, as the leading edge of the cluster approaches the Mississippi River.

Damaging winds would be the primary danger of the strongest thunderstorms.

The cluster will also drop heavy rain throughout its lifespan from tonight into Wednesday.

The rain could create flash flooding issues and problems for motorists, in the form of reduced visibility and water ponding on roadways.

However, the rain will prove to be beneficial in terms of heat and drought relief from Kansas to Arkansas.

Aside from spotty thunderstorms across the Texas Panhandle Wednesday afternoon, no such relief from this cluster is headed to the rest of Texas.

The corridor from Nebraska to Arkansas was a pathway for severe and heavy thunderstorms as recently as Monday. Numerous places endured damaging winds.

The remains of these thunderstorms are currently rattling the Deep South and could touch off more severe weather across this region this afternoon.
