A rare and destructive tornado tore through Dexter Michigan yesterday tearing apart homes and businesses. Thankfully, so far there are no reports of any injuries or deaths. Sirens went off around the area about an hour before the tornado went through so people had time to seek shelter.

One of the reasons we have such a rare and damaging tornado this time of year is due to the incredible warmth that is blanketing over two thirds of the country.

Temperatures are 30 – 40 degrees above average foe the Northern Plains and the Upper Midwest today and tomorrow. Looks like these amazingly mild temperatures are going to stick around until next week!

We could see some strong storms across west Texas and Oklahoma today while scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue across parts of the Northeast and southeast.

And the West continues to get pounded by heavy rain and mountain snow with this latest storm moving into Southern California and into the Southwest tomorrow.
