A major evacuation has been extended in the southern NSW city of Wagga Wagga as the flood crisis escalates.

Across the state, 3900 people have been told to leave their homes during more than a week of heavy rain.

Shortly after 6pm (AEDT), people living on 300 properties in North Wagga Wagga were given an evacuation order by the State Emergency Service (SES).

The SES warned that anyone staying home risked death.

“It’s a significant evacuation. The chances are there may well be more,” SES spokeswoman Rebecca Riggs told AAP …
