Description:
Several South American countries remain today in a state of emergency due to heavy rainfall associated with La Ni�a weather phenomenon that has unleashed chaos in the region in recent days. The meteorological forecast is that the rains will continue in the days ahead, and consequently the Government of Ecuador has established a state of alert in twelve provinces. According to the Ecuadorian Civil Defense, the past weekend 85 people were killed by traffic accidents and heavy rains that left several drowned and electrocuted, and 20 missing people. The Ministry of Health of that country warned of a dengue outbreak which resulted in one death and 1,233 infected and called on citizens to take action because 32 people died from that disease in 2011.
