Romania is being hit again by severe winter weather with heavy snowfalls in all Southern half of the country. 74 people are dead since the begining of the cold, 3 weeks ago. An layer of 50 to 90 centimeters of fresh new snow added to the existing one, making it almost impossible to get out. Even though the main boulevards in the capital city Bucharest were all cleared this morning, people couldn’t really use their own cars since these were all covered by snow. The access to local transportation was quite difficult aswell because of the sidewalks covered by massive snow banks. In Romania, 43 national roads and one highway are still closed to traffic. The massive snowfall left tens of tousands isolated and others without electricity in homes all covered by snow.
