Watch: The Damage left behind the Tushka Tornado

World Weather Post - Friday, April 15, 2011, 18:59

KTEN (NBC) – TUSHKA, OKLAHOMA — It’s mind boggling, the force behind a tornado and what it can do in the matter of seconds. “We’ve got significant roof damage, our next door neighbor’s fence panels came through our front door in our house,” says Deborah Huddleston.

Deborah Huddleston says as the tornado ripped through Tushka, Oklahoma Thursday night.
She couldn’t help but wonder if her family, friends and neighbors would make it out alive.
“It was rough, we made it. Things can be replaced,” says Huddleston.

The winds in this tornado were so strong that it picked a house up, and moved it six to eight feet away from its original structure.
“It is completely destroyed by the tornado and we are just trying to salvage what personal items we can, “says Stacy George, Homeowner.

With the help of family and friends, Stacy George is picking up the pieces of her life that are scattered all over her property.
“You thank God you’re family is ok but you wonder what you’re going to do next,” says George.
Thankfully organizations like the Red Cross, Salvation Army and Local Health Departments are on scene to help.
“The Red Cross mission really is to take care of people in the first three days following a disaster. Meeting their needs, like a safe place to stay, make sure folks have something to eat, to drink,” says Donita Quesnel, Red Cross, Tulsa Area Communications Officer.

As for the folks of Tushka, Oklahoma, they say their faith will get them through this disaster.

“Better than ever. We’re too tight, we’ll make it,” says Huddleston.

Red Cross officials say the best way to help is to donate to a local Red Cross. That money will make it the Tushka community as well as other Oklahoma communities affected by tornados.
